Born in Brisbane in 1962, I attended Brisbane Girls’ Grammar School and obtained a Diploma in Secondary Education in 1982. I live with my husband and our two sons on property with views to the Glasshouse Mountains. I have always needed to create, either visually through drawing and photography, in words through poetry, or through more tactile mediums such as textiles and papermaking. Currently I am exhibiting my Photographs nationally and internationally and have begun to make artist books as part of my artistic practice.
I am very interested in the well-being of an individual. As a consequence of examining my own health, I studied areas in Natural Therapies the Healing arts and as a practitioner, have the privilege of assisting others in their own healing journey. Sharing the knowledge I have acquired has always been an important part of my life. I found my love for teaching early and taught at the local gymnastics club whilst I was in high school. I then taught High School Physical Education and Mathematics, and established my own swim school and more recently taught Yoga.
I have a keen affinity with our Natural Environment and have strong connections with both the Ocean and the Earth. Sailing, swimming and snorkeling in the ocean gives me immense pleasure. The Australian landscape is rich with colour, sound and texture, and has a quality which is both powerful yet fragile. I love to travel and observe and feel as much of Australia as I can. Walking and sleeping in this amazing environment inspires me.
I have always thought it very important to grow much of our fruit and vegetables and have established orchards and vege gardens to supply our family and friends. We have rare breed chooks and have an abundance of beautiful fresh eggs. I am presently regenerating a portion ex-farm land and creating wildlife corridors for the endemic species.
