Bhutan 2016
My dearest Girlfriend and I spent a few weeks traversing Bhutan from East to West…driving with a guide…walking….experiencing friendship, new culture and wonderful new experiences!
Get a coffee and kick back and come on this journey with me for 30 minutes…
Or if you prefer a 6 minute version – 🙂

It’s warping day. On a previous reel I explained what a warp was. Today in my studio I need to tension warp threads to wind the warp onto the rear beam.
I can’t be at both ends at the same time, so being a rather practical person, I came up with a plan! Perfect solution! Doesn’t save me going to the gym though! hehehe
Here I’m using my fabulous Ashford Rigid Heddle 48” / 120cm loom.
You can save this for future reference; and to see how important it is for me to be resourceful so that I can satisfy my inner need to weave soulful blankets; come along and follow me.

Ever been told you were too ‘out there’? .. or too ..’{something}?
I’m grateful my ‘too…. ‘ was seen in me, because those qualities have led me to live an extraordinary life. Presently I’m weaving some of those stories from my crazy life driving a 100 year old Vauxhall around the world; into my handwoven blankets.
Save this as a reminder to reflect on your own ‘too … {something} quality. Love you to share with us all what you were told you were ‘too…{something}; growing up.

The girl who was ‘too out there, too clumsy, too easily distracted, too independent growing up - was ‘too much’; and this is precisely the reason for her extraordinary life.
Now an artist; weaver, photographer, travelling the world; family; friends; a life rich with experiences.
A woman who celebrates her ‘too-muchness’.
My name is Julie and I share my life stories, and weave some of those into handwoven blankets.
I also share some photographs of how I see the world.
I’ve been told for much of my life that I’m ‘too out there. Too much’. I am so grateful they noticed!
Save this as a reminder to reflect on your own ‘too-muchnesses. Love you to share with us all what you were told you were ‘too…’ growing up, and perhaps YOUR story!

Your weaving isn’t valued because it looks like it was made by a machine.
It is valued because it didn’t!
Come along for tips, ideas and inspiration; as we create what is valued - together.

Just realised that perfection in your weaving isn’t the goal? Perfection isn’t what it’s cracked up to be. Machines can do that. Soul-less. What you create with your own hands is unique and unreplicable.
Come join me as we weave our own life stories through our own hands.

Want perfection? Use a machine. Your hands are the whole point. Your hands leave traces that your pieces are made by a human. Your own lived experience. Soul-filled!
Want your own handmade - creative inspiration, tips and ideas?

Wished someone had told me this when I started weaving.
What NOT to do with your gorgeous Indie dyed singles from the festival; or for that project that didn’t quite get made! Excited about using them in your weaving?
STOP - before you start warping!!
You can use any yarns you like for your warp; BUT, with awareness. Discernment is necessary.
Shredding it - is a thing!
Save this in your weaving ‘note to self’ folder, and share with your creative bestie, so you avoid broken warp yarns!
