The Mitchell Plateau is an area of amazing diversity and beauty. This area, and the Kandiwal community is under threat of Bauxite mining of the Mitchell Plateau. More information on this can be found on the Gibb River Road website.

There are other areas in the world which have already been devastated by bauxite mining. Surely we need to preserve this area, and leave these resources in the ground. We must just learn that we can’t always have everything – and just not have the products made from bauxite when they run out elsewhere, rather than destroying another beautiful area of out planet.
