Beliefs
Flickering in the candle’s flame
Twin Towers crumbling
screams puncturing panes
shattering faith
and dreams
and arteries.
The stench of anger and despair
searing the lungs of those who see
and breathe
the smoke
and dust
and ash.
And as I sit
here
in this room
around a candle
and a rose
I saw
and touched
and felt
warm dark hands and eyes
which spoke with innocence
“I did what I believed was right.”
