  • Here’s a simple tip using 2 cardboard strips as a header to even the shed in weaving. You only need two strips, and it’s best they are really thin, and the sharp edges mitred or lightly sanded (even with an emery board) to ensure that the yarn isn’t abraded. I then weave a small section of woven header which will be removed as the weaving is taken from the loom.

I use a very simple rigid heddle loom; a lifetime of experience as an artist and weaver; combined with a little unhingedness; and my passion for sharing everything I know; means my space here is your go to creative fibre space for weaving, knitting and a big if fun. Welcome. Have a look around. I may even make you laugh.
  • An important thing for knitters, is that you need to be strong; so you can move your stash or collection of resources without hurting yourself!

Can you suggest any exercises I or other knitters should do? Let’s spread the word about how important it is to be strong to be a knitter!
  • I am a creator, a weaver, a knitter, traveler, photographer, a maker; and reflecting on over half a century of living, I suddenly recognise the words of Pink Floyd’s ‘Time’ make so much sense.

I am so grateful to have experienced so much living, and recalling this song recently has reminded me that despite some life challenges; how quickly time - and my life is passing.

There has been a time more recently where I haven’t been able to travel and experience the world and myself as I would have liked, but there are other ways that I can ensure I don’t fritter myself away. Being creative is that continuing thread. My journeys are the foundation for my creative work, especially my weaving.

So, I quietly reflect. With gratitude.

The door has shut; want quiet, no traffic, don’t want to talk to anyone and just stay home and do the things you want to do; like spinning, weaving, knitting, crafting; but feel like you should be getting dressed out of your pj’s, and going out to at least have a coffee???

You could role play like I did. Lol you can save this as a reminder that you don’t have to go out today at all!!! Follow to see my next studio ‘outing’.

One can never be overdressed wherever you are! Pop on your bling and do your thing!
So it’s all sorted then? Welcome!

Oops. Save this as a reminder if you ever accidentally missed some slots threading your reed; that it’s only a little oopsie. No biggie!

It’s an easy fix as long as you find the perfect weight to keep the replaced threads the same tension as the rest of the warp.

Always surprises here in my studio. Need a bit more of that? Come join in!
