Wanderlust Sunshine Coast – I stood up and surfed!!! hehe

Wanderlust-  I STOOD UP!!!! on a surfboard …. on my very FIRST run… and EVERY run during a lesson at the Wanderlust festival for conscious living at the Sunshine Coast. hehehehe

I put my hand up for 3 surfing classes; 7 yoga classes; 5 meditation classes; 1 dance class; 3 talks; 3 concerts… and 3 more events I just can’t remember right now. 24 events in 4 days… a time and space for deep reconnection and loads of fun!!!

I’ve wanted to feel what it is like to surf for a long time… and when I saw this opportunity – I grabbed it!!! and It was SOOOOO much fun. My buddy gave me little push in the quite rough conditions… and off I went.

I was calm. I went carefully through what we were taught on the sand… ‘press up to Virabhadrasana.. keep low… and go’… and I did. 🙂 Two other ladies in the class said it was worth attending the class just to see my joy and exuberance at standing up and surfing in to the shore… more like standing on a board being pushed by the wave in to the shore… but I suppose I could legitimately say I was surfing!! hehehe

Dustin Brown was out teacher. A beautiful man who brought such conscious awareness to the class. We began by sharing our name and what we were grateful for; and our intention for attending the class. Dustin emphasised the importance of just ‘doing’ and having fun experiencing ourselves surfing in this incredible environment and opportunity. At the completion of the class Dustin brought us together to close the class, and his words of gratitude and the sound of the Ommmm from the members of the class brought tears to my eyes.

Yes… Wanderlust is wonderful!

I have so much to share about the golden gems I have learned today… treasures gifted from experienced teachers and from deep within myself. That will have to be left for another day, as it is time for me to get to bed… as it is up early for a morning meditation class then more fun in the waves, on my mat and diving deeply into my conscious breathing and awareness!

About the Author: Julie
I am a Journeywoman. I live my life as an explorer. An adventurer. An Observer. An Artist. There is no differentiation between how I live my life and the art that is an expression of it. It is through my experience adventuring the unknown, that I learn more about myself. My aim through this connection is to live where my expression is fully in alignment with the essence of who I am. “In the field of Fine-Art Photography, Julie stands apart from others with the way she sees the world and expresses her connection within it. Julie Stephenson’s photographs are sublime. Her work is an expression of her deep connection; and a gift to the world.”
