Workshop Testimonials

“Julie, I can’t stop thinking about your wonderful workshop. In explaining and exploring the tools you require for the creative process you have given me confidence to pursue my ideas. In addition to my current photography I will be going back over some old photographs with a new eye, to hear and to play.” David

“Invaluable, in depth tuition in rediscovery/discovering a purpose to making my photography more personal, more joyful for me and interesting/challenge to others.” GE

Thanks for your comments and encouragement on the workshop on Saturday 16 October, Julie. I greatly enjoyed the time in the sessions and took much away from it, as I am sure all the participants did. This has encouraged me to more clearly identify and articulate what I want to say through my photography. As you suggest a project about something special to me could help with this, as well as a willingness to push my boundaries. Already I have 1 or 2 initial project ideas to build on.Once again, thanks for your inspiration and guidance. Ken

Hi Julie – I quite like your creative process guides to help me express what I want to say through the photography medium. No f-stops, no shutter speeds , just my own scary “self” to deal with. I’ll have another avenue to improve my photographic skills – look inwards.Using my emotional response to the image and develop my photo from there is a useful concept I can take on board. Thank you. Brian

The workshop has the capacity to assist the reflection process so well. RM

The workshop has pulled together so many strands on my photography that have existed too much in isolation.

Julie, you offered us your workshop “Hearing Through the Eyes”. You helped me to reaffirm to myself that I had stopped ‘playing’ which is what I had always said that I was doing. I said right from the start of my photography that I wasn’t taking photos, I was just playing. You have made me realise its importance and that if I want to break out of the doldrums I should get out and ‘play’ more. That and being instantly ‘in the moment’ to be more productive on a photoshoot. Ross

I loved your workshop Julie. I have a much clearer insight into how to put more of ‘myself’ into my photographs. Danielle

I wished I had done your workshop years ago Julie. I have spent years working on how to compose my photo and which is the ‘best’ way to take the photo…and now I realise all I needed to do was listen and feel – oh and to play more and enjoy more of my taking photos rahter than trying too hard to get the perfect one. This makes just perfect sense to me. I had such an
invaluable day. Thank you Julie so much. I really cannot thank you enough. Jared

Julie, I don’t know how you did it, but you got me to find my own answers by asking me questions. I loved the way you always brought it back to us and taught us how to ask ourselves questions as well. That is much better than just teaching us material that we might forget. I will never forget this day, because I now have learned a new way of seeing and listening. Wonderful and priceless!!! Terry C.

I am a lot more confident now to listen to my own voice and follow more clearly what comes from within rather than changing everything I do because of what other people think i should do to my photographs or how I should take them. I am so grateful to you Julie for this amazing workshop. It will benefit not only my exhibition work, but has given me skills to endure throughout every aspect of my life. …oh… and I WILL keep playing ! Caroline

About the Author: Julie
I am a Journeywoman. I live my life as an explorer. An adventurer. An Observer. An Artist. There is no differentiation between how I live my life and the art that is an expression of it. It is through my experience adventuring the unknown, that I learn more about myself. My aim through this connection is to live where my expression is fully in alignment with the essence of who I am. “In the field of Fine-Art Photography, Julie stands apart from others with the way she sees the world and expresses her connection within it. Julie Stephenson’s photographs are sublime. Her work is an expression of her deep connection; and a gift to the world.”
