STEP 3
Ok… Firstly, last night I was asked what my Mission was… so here it is –
My Mission is “To live my life with an open heart.”
.. hence the title of my Blog. 🙂
So… what is the next step?? Defining some Goals in how to achieve that. This is where you find a new page in your book…or create a new Word doc. And start writing specific things you want really to achieve; do; experience; accomplish. Keep checking in ALL the time that these things that you really want to achieve are actually in alignment with your Mission. If they aren’t…perhaps some reflection and refinement is needed on your Creative or Life Mission.
This is an opportunity for you now to perhaps have two columns; one for your “Creativity/Photography/Art” and the other column for your “Personal Life”.
Now start to list all the things you want to achieve; do; accomplish or experience – in each of these areas. These are your GOALS. These are the things which when achieved, combine to make up your ‘Big Picture’. Think of everything
in your life which is something you want to have achieved; done; accomplished or experienced. List all of these goals, preferably if you can in two columns like I have in my pic.
Now you have written your goals – have a really good look at them. Refine them if you need to. Be really honest with yourself. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious, and having grand dreams; but there is a whole generation of flailing hearts who rode the back of the “I can do ANYTHING slogan”…and just were in all honesty – not honest… by not being realistic… and have crashed emotionally. Check that a good proportion of your goals are achievable with the gifts and talents that you have or have the potential to develop. Aim high, but for the Goals that you have that are really ‘up there’ – just be aware of the emotional investment and attachment you have to achieve these goals.
When you have refined your goals, now roughly label them as either short term or long term. You can decide your parameters for this… but generally short term goals are in weeks/months; and long term ones are in years.
Now we are a step closer to Completing things!. Keep working on your list of things which are on your plate which you haven’t completed, and next post we’ll start looking at that list in relation to your Goals and Creative or Life Mission. It won’t be long before you will be crossing things off your list and creating the way for the new! 🙂
