I love tending to my orchard and veges. There is something quite special about harvesting and eating delicious organic fruit, nuts and veges that I have grown here in our garden. Often I use my shirt as a receptacle to hold and carry up to the kitchen this abundance from the earth…. and often the greens have been munched well before they are put onto the plate!
Recently I have planted broccoli, kale and lettuce….. some bean seeds and in the next day or so plant a small patch of corn and cucumbers together, so the cucumbers can climb up the corn stalks.
A beautiful fragrance wafted on a still, winter’s day last week…. and the Jaboticaba tree was in full flower. The day was quiet – except for the bees…whose sound vibrated gently in and around the tree.
I took out my iPhone and recorded a short video to share with everyone how beautiful these flowers were on the branches of the Jaboticaba tree. The fruit which will form along the branches is sweet, succulent and delicious. In a few weeks I will show you what the tree looks like when all the fruit is mature.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We had some broccoli too – Mrs P has toiled for months to get it to grow.
Then she went out and left the greenhouse door open and the local baboon troupe arrived and ate the lot.
Much weeping and gnashing of teeth (and restorative wine consumption) followed.
