No-one knows what happens next…

Although I am quite psychic; have incredible foresight and intuitive abilities and even premonition dreams… I really don’t know what’s going to happen next. I don’t really know how my life will unfold. Just as the colour and shape of the clouds in the image here changes every second as the sun rises…things in my life can change in a nano-second – and has; often!!… Very often!!! My life has taken more twists and turns than a ball of wool !!!

Realising that I don’t know what is going to happen next means that nothing is set in stone and things change unexpectedly all the time; and that I can play a part in creating the next moment through my choices.

I have recognised that change is a part of my existence…. so why fight it. Why stick and hold on to anything just because I’ve had it for some time; goals…. dreams… hairstyle – (or any ‘style’ for that matter)…. relationships…. vocation ….. hobbies ….. interests ….. beliefs… opinions…. ideas…..?

Realising that every moment is a new beginning enables me to toss out the things which don’t resonate with me… don’t support me…. don’t enrich and enlighten me; and to go deep within to recognise the choices I need to make to open opportunities that do enrich and enlighten me.

I can implement this in every aspect of my life including my photography, and I would like to suggest that it may be something you could consider as well.

Developing a personal photographic style is important… but that too needs to mature and grow. Recognising that every next moment is unknown, opens up the possibility for crafting and creating new ones… new directions.. new exploration… new ideas. This opens up the opportunity to play, experiment and explore new ways of seeing, expressing and sharing your own photographic vision.

Recognising that I don’t know what is going to happen next is sort of exciting. How do you feel about not knowing what’s going to happen next??

About the Author: Julie
I am a Journeywoman. I live my life as an explorer. An adventurer. An Observer. An Artist. There is no differentiation between how I live my life and the art that is an expression of it. It is through my experience adventuring the unknown, that I learn more about myself. My aim through this connection is to live where my expression is fully in alignment with the essence of who I am. “In the field of Fine-Art Photography, Julie stands apart from others with the way she sees the world and expresses her connection within it. Julie Stephenson’s photographs are sublime. Her work is an expression of her deep connection; and a gift to the world.”

  • Your hands ARE the point.  The variations in what you create with your own hands are the traces and evidence that it was created by a unique human.
  • Machines “...copy the way, but can’t copy the soul”. FLORÉN FLO Beats
Your fingertips create traces that your pieces are made by a human. Everything that you create with your hands; Weaving; Art; Cooking; Music; Touch. Every gesture and movement uniquely yours. Extraordinarily human. Unreplicable
  • Shredding it - in this case is NOT good! Lol Singles yarns can be an issue if used in the warp. I wished someone had told me this when I stared weaving!
  • I wished I had known about this when I started weaving! Shredded yarn is not your friend!
  • Shredded yarn is not your friend. Care is needed when using singles yarns for the warp. I wished I had known about this when I started weaving!
  • Tick-tock tick-tock… not good things can happen if you forget to do them! And everything can fall apart!

Hemstitching (Yes I did say ‘stitching’!’)  is a vital and often missed step in weaving. Note to self!
  • It’s not all calm - weaving. If you forget a step - everything can go BOOM! and disintegrate.

Hemstitching is a vital and often missed step in weaving. Yes ‘stitching’ Note to self!
  • The tutorials show perfectly aligned knots and smooth, effortless tension.

The reality is just standing at the loom wrangling with individual threads until the structure finally cooperates.

It’s fiddly. It’s clumsy. No gauges. Just tension by intuitive feel. On repeat.

If you’re looking for mechanical clinical perfection; not here. But if you want creative inspiration; well that’s a whole different story!
  • Weaving is sooo relaxing!
Really?? Lies!

Lashing the warp is messy. Clumsy.
Knots not even. If you like things lined up exactly, this could do your head in!

Wrangling a clump of cord to lash is NOT relaxing!

Let’s set the record straight!
For you? Weaving lies?
What’s the consensus?
