my last day?

I was wondering today if I went to sleep tonight for the last time this lifetime – would I feel content and fulfilled.

I started by thinking about my day today…and whether I lived it with honesty and authenticity. Immediately I answered YES.

I started my day early with a short meditation where my breath and silence accompanied the birds welcoming the morning light. I then had a cuppa with Max, then enjoyed sweating in a strenuous Spin class and workout at my local Pool and Gym. I then went to Wesley Hospital to give a Healing and massage to a beautiful friend as she has had recent surgery. It was such a privelige to be of service to her. We then chatted together and spoke about illness and connecting with oneself and God. We opened our hearts to each other. We shared a Loving connection.

I then chatted and laughed with a shop assistant in K2 an Outdoor Store in Brisbane, who excitedly brought out from under the counter a baking tray with his first attempt at baking gluten free buscuits and offered me one. Whilst I was chewing,(yes with my mouth full! 🙂 ) I mentioned I had Caeliac disease. He beamed and offered me another. He was so proud that he had chosen me to offer his first cooking creations. He asked me for some tips and ideas for cooking which fortunately I could offer…. and I walked away munching on yummy chocolate chip gluten free biscuits ….after a hug and saying how much his biscuits were made with such Love.

So yes…. today I lived with honesty and authenticity. Now to the bigger picture about whether if my last sleep was tonight whether I would close my eyes with contentment and fulfillment….what would I answer? hmmmmm I need to reflect a little more on that one and share in my next post.

About the Author: Julie
I am a Journeywoman. I live my life as an explorer. An adventurer. An Observer. An Artist. There is no differentiation between how I live my life and the art that is an expression of it. It is through my experience adventuring the unknown, that I learn more about myself. My aim through this connection is to live where my expression is fully in alignment with the essence of who I am. “In the field of Fine-Art Photography, Julie stands apart from others with the way she sees the world and expresses her connection within it. Julie Stephenson’s photographs are sublime. Her work is an expression of her deep connection; and a gift to the world.”

  • Your hands ARE the point.  The variations in what you create with your own hands are the traces and evidence that it was created by a unique human.
  • Machines “...copy the way, but can’t copy the soul”. FLORÉN FLO Beats
Your fingertips create traces that your pieces are made by a human. Everything that you create with your hands; Weaving; Art; Cooking; Music; Touch. Every gesture and movement uniquely yours. Extraordinarily human. Unreplicable
  • Shredding it - in this case is NOT good! Lol Singles yarns can be an issue if used in the warp. I wished someone had told me this when I stared weaving!
  • I wished I had known about this when I started weaving! Shredded yarn is not your friend!
  • Shredded yarn is not your friend. Care is needed when using singles yarns for the warp. I wished I had known about this when I started weaving!
  • Tick-tock tick-tock… not good things can happen if you forget to do them! And everything can fall apart!

Hemstitching (Yes I did say ‘stitching’!’)  is a vital and often missed step in weaving. Note to self!
  • It’s not all calm - weaving. If you forget a step - everything can go BOOM! and disintegrate.

Hemstitching is a vital and often missed step in weaving. Yes ‘stitching’ Note to self!
  • The tutorials show perfectly aligned knots and smooth, effortless tension.

The reality is just standing at the loom wrangling with individual threads until the structure finally cooperates.

It’s fiddly. It’s clumsy. No gauges. Just tension by intuitive feel. On repeat.

If you’re looking for mechanical clinical perfection; not here. But if you want creative inspiration; well that’s a whole different story!
  • Weaving is sooo relaxing!
Really?? Lies!

Lashing the warp is messy. Clumsy.
Knots not even. If you like things lined up exactly, this could do your head in!

Wrangling a clump of cord to lash is NOT relaxing!

Let’s set the record straight!
For you? Weaving lies?
What’s the consensus?
