Just going to BE!

As a photographer I am constantly observing the landscape and connect with and witness my own response to what I see. I often look UP. I love looking at clouds. I often just watch the freedom of them and how the moisture in the atmosphere just IS.

I fully realise that the clouds are not human – but nature teaches me a lot about myself. The clouds were not ‘trying’ to be anything other than what they were. It was as if the movement of the clouds was just so harmonious and effortless and they had such freedom to just BE the moisture that they were. I reflected upon that for myself.

My thoughts were still with these clouds when I became aware of the plethora of advertising material in my Inbox for 2013, suggesting I need to be “more successful”; be “more goal oriented”; be “more productive”; be “happier”; be “more positive”; be “more empowered”.. be “the change I want to see”.. and you know what… I just realised that I’m not going to be sucked into any of that, and for now…. I am going to be just like the clouds…I am just going to BE !

I’ve had a few pretty full on years…. and I feel like I am just coming up for air… and I’m not going to strive to be MORE of anything. I’m just going to pause and acknowledge who I am NOW… and not try to be anything MORE!

I’m going to let this manifest also in my photography. I’m not going to TRY and be MORE creative.. more successful… more anything. I’m going to just take my camera up to my eye when I feel to.. as an extension of my curiosity to see and observe the world and my response to it. I am just going to BE.

Perhaps this may be something you may like to consider investigating and exploring for yourself as well. How do you feel about striving to be MORE??? Have any of you reached a place where you don’t want to be MORE of anything?? I would love to hear your thoughts… and until then… I’m enjoying browsing through my folders of beautiful cloud photos. I’ll see if I can put together a few to share in a future post.

About the Author: Julie
I am a Journeywoman. I live my life as an explorer. An adventurer. An Observer. An Artist. There is no differentiation between how I live my life and the art that is an expression of it. It is through my experience adventuring the unknown, that I learn more about myself. My aim through this connection is to live where my expression is fully in alignment with the essence of who I am. “In the field of Fine-Art Photography, Julie stands apart from others with the way she sees the world and expresses her connection within it. Julie Stephenson’s photographs are sublime. Her work is an expression of her deep connection; and a gift to the world.”
