It seems for me a bit surreal that only a few months ago I was an adventurer in one of the most exquisite and extreme places on Earth. Antarctica.
I have now had some space between my journey into the cold and sublime spaces of this magical place, and still my memories are strong; and the sense of wonder and yearning to return seems to be amplifying.
I have only recently begin revisiting some of my images…playing really… just going through folders and witnessing my response to them..and as I look at my photographs asking myself the same question “What part of me is…..”. Sometimes I don’t have an answer. Sometimes I just have a memory of my feeling whilst I was there. Sometimes I uncover something within myself which I had never recognised before. This process for me has been refreshing and challenging at the same time.
I have found revisiting my images to also be quite a surprise for me…discovering how really beautiful and powerful some of my images are. The landscape is spectacular, so that is a great starting point; but what I have come across in my folders of rescued images are some hidden gems – ones which for me have an element of the sublime. Ones which speak of the magic of the landscape and of my experience and connection within it and within myself.
Over the coming weeks I will be sharing some of these images which to me are speaking of the sublime. Click the image below to enlarge.
