Memories of my experiences of journeys across the world come to life again in my studio. My current series is founded on our wonderful time in Kolkata. I loved Kolkata. The sounds. The colour. The warmth from others. Here in my studio, nothing is rushed. Each piece is woven carefully with intention. Each piece is unique. The rhythm of my hands and steps; the behaviour of the yarn; the decisions made in the moment rather than imposed in advance. As an artist, little is planned in my weaving. Reveal time! The city of inspiration for my current series is Kolkata; starting with my memories of Mullik Ghat Flower Markets. Kolkata was the beginning of our drive in our 1923 Vauxhall through India, Bhutan and Myanmar. I had the most wonderful time in Kolkata. Have you ever been there? My remote journeys and experiences continue to move through me as I weave.  Although weaving involves repetitive tasks, my movements are intentional and connected to my spirit, memory and experiences.
